Has this ever happened to you? You are feeling good, feeling pretty damn fit and thinking that maybe all this clean eating and active living is finally starting to pay off! And then..dun dun dun... you weight yourself. The numbers haven't gone down or even worse... they have gone up!!! You instantly start to feel panicked. Are you living in a fantasy world where you are actually getting bigger and bigger each day and you don't even know it?!
Cue a mental meltdown and all your worries and negative thoughts spiralling out of control aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh...... and scene, your day is ruined.
Ok, calm down. I am sorry if you were triggered there, but I am here to tell you something I want you to remember forever....IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WEIGHT. So stop worrying about it.
Focusing solely on weight loss is a big reason why I see so many people fail when it comes to LONG term weight loss. It is why people continue to yo-yo on the scales year after year. They are not coming from a place of self care or long term health. They are putting their body repeatedly in a state or stress and disparity just to move those darn scales. This tactic may get you to a "healthy" weight in the short term but long term it does absolutely nothing good for your body and soul.
Truth...I used to be one of those people who would rather be consuming fake GMO foods instead of healthy whole foods if it meant that I would be saving calories. You know those personal trainers who walk around drinking sugar free red bull? That was me.
When I finally started to see health and wellness as a long term state, I was hooked. This commitment to true health was not only energizing, anti-aging, amazing for my skin and my digestion, but it was fuelling my mind, spirit and soul. It was and is an expression of self love and progression.
I realized eating fake food and low carb/fat processed food in the place of nutrient dense whole foods just to make the numbers on the scale go down, was not creating a body and lifestyle out of self love or long term health. True health has nothing to do with numbers and everything to do with a feeling. It is respecting the body and the mind. In fact the mind is the most important aspect, If you can get out of your way mentally it will be extremely difficult to stay on track.
Be sure to fuel your mind with positive thoughts and affirmations. Let go of any thoughts that do not serve you and be patient and kind to yourself. There is no rush to get to the end, let your health practices grow. Next time you have a negative thought about your body or your weight swap it out for a more productive thought. Fuel your body with amazing high quality food and your mind with productive and inspiring thoughts xo Anna.
